Eisenbahn S.A.P.A (South American Pale Ale)

Eisenbahn S.A.P.A. is brewed by Cervejeria Sudbrack Ltda. in Blumenau Brazil. They bill themselves as "South America's Craft Brewery". This is the 2nd beer I've had from this brewery, and I think their claim is justified. The first one was a smoked beer called "Defumada", which I reviewed earlier. Their S.A.P.A. poured a medium amber color with a small white head, which promptly dissipated. My first taste was surprising, since the first thing I noticed was a Belgian yeast type of flavor, which their web-site confirms. The aroma is of malt and grass. The beer is slightly sweet and a little spicy, probably from the yeast. It has a mild hop bitterness in the finish. I enjoyed this one, probably due to the unexpected Belgian profile. So far, Eisenbahn is 2 for 2.

Eisenbahn Defumada Smoked Lager

Eisenbahn Defumada Smoked Lager is from Cervejaria Sudbrack Ltda. in Blumenau Brazil. The brewery bills itself as "South America's Craft Brewery", and if this beer is any indication, the nick-name is accurate. It poured a beautiful copper color with a large beige head, that lasted longer than most. The first sip tasted of pure smoke, but after getting used to it, I was able to taste the malt too. It has some caramel sweetness mixed in with roasted malt. This is not as smoky as a German Rauchbier, but it's got plenty of smoke character. I really enjoyed this one. I also bought Eisenbahn S.A.P.A. which stands for South American Pale Ale. I hope I enjoy that one as much as I did this one. It's nice to find a Brazilian beer thats not a pale lager.

Cintra Brazilian Beer

I decided to try this beer because we were eating Cuban style grilled chicken, and since I didn't have any Cuban beer, I thought Brazilian would be similar. I have to say that Cintra is very similar to any of the Mexican lagers that are out there, such as Corona or Sol. Very pale, very light, very carbonated. It's a good example of a pale lager, and went fine with my chicken. I just won't brag about it to anyone. This was another one of the varieties I found in World Market's Beers of the World assortment.
